30.08 at 4.30 pm/ On the streets of Helsinki (2016). Presented to us by the director and Diak alumni Borislav Borisov.

This film creates awareness about people that are in very difficult life situations, on the streets of Helsinki.

 

20.9 at 4.30 pm/ If we ever get out of here (2016) By film makers Marika Griehsel and Lollo Jarnebrink.

Just over 181,000 refugees live in Kakuma, having fled war and violence in neighboring countries.Follow the lives of three refugees in the Kakuma refugee camp, northwest Kenya, in this documentary by the Church of Sweden.

Homosexuality is illegal in Cameroon. Alice, a bold and intrepid lawyer, is standing alone to defend the ones rejected by their families and imprisoned by their government. This documentary exposes their desperate plight and search for acceptance.

Two brothers live in the small whaling community by the Bering Strait in Chukotcka, Russia. While their father reminisces about the good old days, the brothers try to find their own paths in a world where the traditional way of life is being challenged by poverty, alcoholism and globalization. There are only dreams of something better.

 

13.12 at 4.30. pm/ Men at Home (2015) A short documentary presented to us by the director Nelli Kampman (Metropolia UAS). The story of Ali Alyasiri, an Iraqi refugee, who has left his home to seek asylum in Finland. What emotions does he go through while waiting?
